The only situation when a vaccination is required is when entering Zanzibar after a stay of more than 12 hours in a yellow fever epidemic country. In this case the vaccination certificate needs to be processed at the point of entry.

Other vaccinations to be considered depending on your mode of travelling:

  • Diphtheria – booster injection recommended
  • Yellow fever – after a stay of more than 12 hours in an epidemic country certificate needs to be processed at the point of entry!
  • Hepathitis A and B – advisable especially for longer stays
  • Influenza – booster injection recommended
  • Malaria – prophylaxis recommended for mainland
  • Meningococcus – advisable especially for longer stays
  • Mumps, measels, rubella (MMR) – booster injection recommended
  • Pertussis – booster injection recommended
  • Polio – booster injection recommended
  • Tetanus – booster injection recommended
  • Rabies – advisable especially for longer stays
  • Typhoid – advisable especially for longer stays
