For more detailed information on vaccinations it is advisable to refer to official sources such as the World Health Organization (WHO). Customs Regulations
Please note that the export of seashells, coral, ivory, turtle shells, or any other natural items may be illegal. It is important to respect and abide by the laws and regulations of the country you are visiting, including Zanzibar and Tanzania, to prevent engaging in any illegal activities.
Exporting such items can have detrimental effects on the environment and wildlife conservation efforts. Additionally, international regulations, such as the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), restrict or prohibit the trade of endangered species and their by-products.
To ensure compliance with local laws and international regulations, it is recommended to refrain from purchasing or attempting to export any prohibited natural items. If you have any questions or concerns regarding specific regulations or items, it is best to consult with local authorities or seek guidance from relevant governmental agencies or conservation organizations in Zanzibar or Tanzania.
Currency Restrictions
There is no specific limit on the import or export of foreign currency in Tanzania, including Zanzibar. However, it is important to note that if you are carrying international currency valuing more than $10,000 (or its equivalent in other currencies) upon entrance or exit from Tanzania, you are required to declare it.
In terms of Tanzanian Shillings (TZS), non-residents (excluding Kenyans and Ugandans) are generally not allowed to import or export TZS. It is advisable to exchange your currency to Tanzanian Shillings upon arrival in Tanzania if you need local currency for your transactions during your stay.
To ensure compliance with currency regulations, it is recommended to consult with relevant authorities or check the latest information provided by the Tanzanian government or the Tanzanian Revenue Authority before your trip. This will help you stay informed about any updates or changes to the currency import and export regulations in Tanzania.
