Fresh water is a vital resource for life, significantly impacting Zanzibar’s environment, economy, and social well-being. It plays a crucial role in supporting agriculture, wildlife habitats, fisheries, and providing safe drinking water to both residents and tourists. Unfortunately, the island faces challenges due to rapid population growth, tourism, climate change, and insufficient infrastructure, putting strain on its limited freshwater resources.

To address this concern, Milele Villas has taken measures to conserve water. Rainwater is harvested and utilized for showers and toilets, reducing the dependency on the public water supply. Only during the dry season is additional water needed from the public supply. It’s essential to be mindful of this water conservation effort and keep taps closed when not in use. By collectively being responsible for water usage, we can contribute to the sustainability of this precious resource on the island.
